Marc Watson has been with us a little while now so we thought it was about time we gave him a proper mention.
Marc is our graduate distiller who studied for his degree at Heriot-Watt University and wrote his undergraduate thesis on gin. We've taken him on through the ScotGrad programme to spearhead the development of a range of new products.
Marc has already helped to mastermind our limited edition cask-aged Up Helly Aa Gin and has plenty more ideas in the pipeline.
Marc was drawn to join the team here in Shetland because the appeal of working for a small company and learning about all aspects of the business was strong.
“It is a huge opportunity for me to put my stamp on things. The team here in Unst is working at the same level and taking ownership of what we do. Working with the team and with Stuart I want to try to push the brand as much as possible. It’s a very exciting time as we build on the success of the original Shetland Reel Gin and bring new products to markets around the world."
Marc has already proved himself to be a most welcome addition to the team at Saxa Vord and we hope he will be the linchpin in bringing further success to the distillery.
Marc’s year-long appointment has been made through the ScotGrad placement programme, and part-funded by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and the European Regional Development Fund.
