We've got a few 'reel royal facts' for you...
Do you know what our co-founder Debbie has in common with King Charles III?
They both served in the Royal Airforce, once upon a time. A youthful Debbie is pictured above in her RAF uniform.
Mark, our distillery manager has also rubbed shoulders with King Charles III, back when he served in the army. Mark can be seen on the right of the image below with King Charles on the left.
Our distillery also has connections to the RAF. Where it stands today was once known as RAF Saxa Vord. It was a Royal Air Force radar station built during the early 1950s as part of the UK's air defense network during the Cold War. RAF Saxa Vord was closed in 2006 as part of a restructuring of the UK's air defence network and is now home to our distillery.
We hope you enjoy the bank holiday weekend, however you choose to spend it!
We hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about Shetland Reel's connections to royalty. If you have any stories about RAF Saxa Vord, we'd love to hear them. Why not get in touch with us on social media; we're on Facebook and Instagram.
Our free postage offer will expire at midnight on Saturday 6th May.
